Pimples On The Arms: How To Get Rid Of Them
Pimples on the arms are very common in the stage of puberty, but can also appear in adulthood.
Mostly annoying on an aesthetic level, pimples are a non-serious skin alteration linked to several factors.
Today we see how to treat this problem to improve the beauty of the skin and return to wearing short-sleeved shirts and tank tops without embarrassment. But, first of all, what is the cause?
Why do pimples appear on the arms?
These tiny bubbles on the arms are largely linked to a buildup of sebum within the hair follicles (the structure where hair grows), which is increased when there is an increase in hormone secretion.
This, together with other factors, leads to the formation of these “pins” which are so difficult to eliminate.
Keratosis pilare?
When these thickenings are hard to push away, despite the treatments applied, we are likely to have a condition called keratosis pilare, similar to goosebumps.
This is a change in the skin that causes a protein called keratin to build up. Therefore, hard plugs are created inside the hair follicles that cause inflammation similar to that of acne.
It is a fairly common problem in people with dry skin or atopic dermatitis (eczema) and appears to be hereditary.
In this case, the best thing to do is to consult a dermatologist to receive an accurate diagnosis and adequate treatment.
The hormonal changes
Pimples on the arms almost always appear due to the hormonal changes that women experience since puberty and, to a lesser extent, men.
It is also possible that the type of diet also influences, even if there is no definitive scientific evidence.
Regardless of the causes, it is possible to intervene without having to resort to chemicals that can be aggressive to the skin. Let’s find out the best natural treatments together.
Exfoliation
Thanks to exfoliation, we can eliminate dead cells that accumulate on the skin and excess sebum, at the base of these bubbles.
Make a natural exfoliant using ingredients that are healthy for your skin, like this:
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon of honey (25 g)
- 2 tablespoons of natural yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of sugar (15 g)
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch (corn starch) (15 g)
Preparation
- Mix all the ingredients and, after forming a paste, apply it by gently massaging the affected area. At the end, leave it to act for about 10 minutes.
- After this time, withdraw with cold water and remember to apply an oil-free moisturizer.
Water and salt
The properties of salt can help reduce excess sebum that builds up in different places on the skin.
Ingredients
- ½ cup of sea salt or coarse salt (125 g)
- Hot water
Preparation
Pour half a cup of sea salt or coarse salt into a basin of hot water and immerse your arms for at least 10 minutes.
Hot water helps to open the pores and thus facilitates the elimination of sebum.
Oats, salt and honey
This natural remedy helps, in general, to soften the skin, exfoliate and moisturize. In this case it helps to eliminate the annoying pustules that form in large quantities on the arms.
Ingredients
- 3 heaping tablespoons of ground oats (50 g)
- 2 tablespoons of honey (50 g)
- 2 tablespoons of salt (30 g)
Preparation
Mix all the ingredients and wet them with a little water to form a paste. Apply it with gentle movements on the affected area and leave it on for about 15 minutes.
For good results, repeat this treatment at least 3 times a week.
Green or red clay
This natural ingredient, which has countless beauty benefits, can also be used to combat the annoying and unsightly pimples that appear on the arms.
Ingredients
- 2 or 3 tablespoons of green or red clay in powder or paste.
Preparation
Moisten the clay until it forms a paste and then apply it in an even layer on the affected areas.
However, do not apply it more than twice a week, as the excess could deprive the skin of its natural oils.
