What’s better than starting the day with a good breakfast? If we include citrus fruits for breakfast, even better. A tasty jam is an ideal solution to enjoy them.

But we know that jams generally contain a lot of sugar, so we offer a low-sugar recipe to make breakfast even healthier.

To do this, we need to replace the sugar with a healthy sweetener or, much better, with honey. In this way, we will not only reduce the intake of refined sugars, but the jam will offer us the benefits of honey and stevia. Read on!

Recipe 1. Citrus jam with honey

Honey is a healthy ingredient with a distinctive sweet flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 large oranges
  • 3 or 4 mandarins
  • 200 ml of water
  • 400 g of honey
  • A stick of cinnamon

Preparation

  • Clean all the fruit well.
  • Peel the tangerines and oranges and keep the peel of the oranges.
  • Cut the fruit.
  • Then, in a pot, put the oranges and tangerines together with the orange peel and add the water. Boil everything for about an hour.
  • Then, remove the peels and blend everything until you get a homogeneous mixture without lumps.
  • Pour back into the pot and add the honey and cinnamon. Continue boiling for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, keep mixing.
  • Let it cool down. Only when the jam is cold can we understand if it has the right consistency.
  • Finally, keep the jam in glass jars. Once opened, they must be kept in the refrigerator.

Recipe 2. Citrus jam with stevia

Stevia as a natural sweetener.
Stevia contains a lower glycemic index than white sugar and is ideal for regulating blood sugar.

Ingredients

  • 1 kilo of oranges
  • Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of stevia
  • A stick of cinnamon

Preparation

  • Clean the oranges well and cut them into pieces, taking care to remove the white part and the seeds. Keep the peels.
  • Squeeze the oranges and cook the juice for about 40 minutes over low heat.
  • Meanwhile, squeeze the lemon and mix the juice with the stevia and orange peel.
  • Add the mixture to the pot with the orange juice and cook for another 10 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and blend everything (except the orange peel).
  • Put the jam in a glass jar.
  • Once cold, you can enjoy your citrus jam with stevia.
