Natural remedies to treat eye pain

1. Warm compresses

Applying warm compresses is ideal for treating eye pain caused by conjunctivitis. Simply soak some absorbent material in warm water and apply it to your eyes for a few minutes.

The infusion of fresh chamomile is not particularly suitable in this case because the pistils could enter the eyes aggravating the infection.

If, on the other hand, we resort to the sachets on sale in any supermarket, we can use the infusion obtained, and well filtered, to prepare a compress.

However, we must be very careful. To prevent unpleasant inconveniences, we can moisten the compress simply with warm water.

2. Tea bags on the eyes

Another treatment to treat eye pain is the application of chamomile or green tea sachets. As we have already explained, in the case of chamomile we must be very careful.

If we only have chamomile available, it is advisable to apply a gauze between the eyes and the sachet. We will protect your eyes as much as possible and prevent any foreign body from entering them. We will leave the sachet to act for about ten minutes.

This remedy is able to offer us the following benefits:

  • Relax your eyes : in case the eye pain is due to too many hours spent in front of the computer.
  • Calm conjunctivitis : we will get immediate relief from the infection.
  • Improve allergy : If your eyes water as a result of pollen allergy, for example, sachets can calm this symptom.

3. Cesalpinia

Cesalpinia belongs to the legume family: these are plants indicated for the treatment of eye diseases. For this purpose, the decoction of the flowers is used, which is then applied to the eyes with great care.

To treat eye pain, you need to boil some water and add the cesalpinia leaves. Once it has reached the boiling point, turn off the heat and let it rest for five minutes.

After this time, we must pour very well. We soak a cotton swab in the liquid and then pass it over the eyes. If we moisten a little gauze or a compress, we can apply them on the eyes for a few minutes.

4. Cold packs

We advised at the beginning to apply warm compresses on the eyes. However, cold packs can also be very helpful in treating eye pain. For this purpose, it is important to follow the following recommendations:

  • We soak a cloth in cold water and squeeze it well before putting it on the eyes.
  • If we decide to use an infusion, we will have to wait until it has cooled down before soaking the cloth and applying it to the eyes. Once warm, we can also put it in the refrigerator and then apply it cold on the eyes, which will receive a greater sensation of freshness.
